Tour Our Roaster

In the past, it was not practical for individual retailers to roast their own coffee. It would have required skilled and experienced personnel, and a large capital outlay for equipment. As a further limitation, roasting equipment was not available in the appropriate scale for most retail businesses.

Syd & Jerry’s Table-Top Commercial Roaster changes all that. Because of its unique microprocessor controlled roasting cycle, our roasting machine can be operated by just about anyone, with minimal training. This makes it different from every other commercial machine on the market.

It is fully automatic, and allows the user to roast coffee to any desired degree of darkness. It is well suited to roasting one to twenty pounds of coffee per day. It requires a minute and a half or two minutes of labor per pound of roasted coffee, and energy costs are very low – usually less than five or six cents per pound. Additional machines can be added as modular units to increase capacity.

Syd and Jerry's Roaster is a "fluidized bed" roaster in which the beans are agitated by the heated air that does the roasting. This method provides a very even roast, free from scorching. The heat source is gas, and we have models for propane or natural gas. The electric demand is minimal, just the operation of the blower and the electronic control. The machine can be purchased either for 115 volt, 60 hz operation, or for 240 volt, 50hz operation (for most of Europe and Asia).
